ANIMALS "The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men." Leonardo Da Vinci For more photographs of animals, go to: Visit of the Neighborhood Bear Click on a thumbnail to view the larger photo. The photos above were taken of the gorilla exhibit at Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC. The beautiful male gorilla is Kwan who loved to pose for the camera. Kumba, a sweet, sad female was ill and you can see the pain in her eyes and the way she held her hands which I tried to capture on film. She has since passed away, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet both these beautiful creatures even in a zoo. Now, the real dream come true would be to see them in the wild, but their numbers are dwindling. A world without gorillas is one in which I don't want to live. Go to http://www.koko.org to read about the wonderful work being done to help save these incredible animals. One of the first photographs I ever took, near Brevard, NC. This is the "dream horse." Winter Birds, a male Cardinal and beautiful Mourning Dove. Garden butterflies. A tufted titmouse by the feeder, goldfinches and grackles. Friends we met while driving. Butterflies at Pisgah National Forest, N.C. Insects from our garden Assorted seagulls. Backyard Critters Along the nature trail and Poinsett State Park, SC
