FOLLY BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA

For information on this beautiful place, go to:  http://follybeach.com   You can also read about the turbulent and violent history of Folly Beach from shipwrecks to Civil War battles.  I'm surprised that more hauntings aren't reported here because of the island's history.

The photos below were taken in May, 2011 when we stayed two nights at The Tides Hotel next to the Folly Fishing Pier.  Scroll further down the page to see photos taken in 2008 during another visit.

Moonrise over the Folly Beach Pier.

The beautiful birds who were always around us during our visit.

Sunrise over Folly.

2008

I've visited this beach on vacations since I was a child, but hadn't been in years when Homer and I went for vacation in April of 2008.  We were lucky to find a lovely, rather isolated rental next to the ever-changing marsh.

We began each day watching the sun rise.

We could see the Morris Island Lighthouse easily from our dock.

And watch the birds search for food.

One of the first days we were there, a big storm blew in bringing cooler temps.

We could sit and watch the marsh waters moving in and out.

Another day ends with beauty.
