Harbor Island

Located 14 miles east of Beaufort, S.C., Harbor Island is a 1400 acre private community on the Harbor River. The majority of the island is tidal marsh. The fairly new development is located between St. Helena and Hunting Islands. Permanent residents live on the island and it is a nice vacation spot for those wishing to get away from crowds.

We visited this nice island in November, 2009 and even though it rained most of the time we were there, we enjoyed the peaceful environment. There are many condos available for vacation rentals with swimming pools close to the beach.

There are boardwalks and paths all over the island that lead to the beach.
